How the service works

Room links and content are exchanged between participants using encrypted WebRTC connections. The operator provides room metadata and signaling needed to connect browsers. When a direct connection fails, a Hetzner-hosted TURN server may transiently relay encrypted network traffic, including voice. The operator does not store P2P message or voice content and cannot retrieve its plaintext.

Room history, attachments, room settings, and backups are controlled by users on their own devices. Deleting a room removes that browser's local copy; it cannot remove copies already held by another participant.

Terms and acceptable use

By using Anymus, you ask the service to connect you with people who have the room link or are otherwise admitted to the room. You are responsible for whom you invite, what you share, and any local backups you create.

Do not use Anymus to break the law, threaten or harass people, distribute malware, gain unauthorized access, interfere with the service, evade safeguards, or consume signaling or TURN capacity abusively. The operator may restrict access or relay use to protect the service, respond to abuse, or comply with a valid legal requirement.

The service is provided free of charge and as available. Availability, successful peer connectivity, or recovery of device-stored data is not guaranteed. Nothing here limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. These terms are governed by Norwegian law, subject to mandatory rights that apply where you live.

Infrastructure providers

See the privacy notice for the data each provider may handle and the applicable retention periods.

Accessibility

Anymus is designed and self-assessed to meet WCAG 2.0 level A and AA, as required by Norway's universal design regulation (forskrift om universell utforming av IKT-løsninger). This is an operator self-assessment against the regulation's 35 applicable success criteria, not a third-party audit.

The European Accessibility Act and EN 301 549 do not apply to Anymus: it is not a covered remuneration/consumer-contract service, and the operator additionally qualifies for the Article 4(5) microenterprise exemption.

If you encounter an accessibility problem, contact support@anymus.net.
